Take a moment to sit quietly with your eyes closed and let your breathing find a naturally relaxed
rhythm by simply paying attention to the rate, depth and current rhythm without actively influencing any of these qualities. Now bring to mind an uncomfortable memory of a recent or distant situation involving a person with whom you feel unresolved in any way. Bring it to mind until you can ‘feel’ the feelings related to that memory. What happens in the body? What does the physiology do? What can you feel? Where exactly do these changes occur anatomically? Is there an overall expansion or a contraction? Keep thinking about the situation for about thirty seconds and keep observing what happens in the body.
